Riding Academy

Sparkleberry Ponies at Crying Coyote Farm (CCF) offers training for ponies and instruction for their young riders. The Sparkleberry Riding Academy is an athletic education program for children 2-17 years old. Students with a true zeal for equestrian sports benefit from the comprehensive nature of instruction that includes opportunities for international competition. Combining formal education on equine care, advocacy, horsemanship and riding, students learn and compete as members of a team while receiving individualized education and recognition. Sparkleberry Ponies maintains a string of top quality equine athletes and an enriching curriculum that develops exceptional riders.

CCF’s staff and string of show ponies and horses develop students into educated, versatile, compassionate, responsible and competitive riders. We believe that all riders should be advocates for ponies and horses and place great value on horsemanship in our training program.

Trainer, Megan O’Brien Ramsey, is an experienced instructor of children and equines of all sizes and heads our training program with the intent of developing top performers. While primarily working with world-caliber Welsh Ponies and Jumpers, Megan and Sparkleberry compete and train in a variety of disciplines and with various breeds. Students are challenged to give their best in the pursuit of time-honored traditions of equestrian sport.

Rather than just a facility offering hourly riding lessons, The Riding Academy at Sparkleberry Ponies is a membership based club designed for youngsters committed to focusing their extracurricular time on equestrian sport and care. Our instruction program is intended to provide quality mounts, instruction and competition opportunities for promising young equestrians. We offer private instruction to each rider 2 or more times a week in addition general riding, group riding and horse care and stable activities. The intent of The Riding Academy is to provide the foundation for the success of equestrian phenoms. As the care and advocacy of equine athletes is a time-intensive pursuit, students and families join our team committed to pursue not just a sport but a passion.

Our competition team travels to events throughout the United States and all students are encouraged to eventually ride in a competitive environment. CCF provides experienced show horses and ponies that allow riders the opportunity and versatility to learn from different mounts as their skills develop. Riders are not limited to one pony, discipline or level. Rather, they are encouraged to improve as riders so as to move up to more competitive horses and ponies. With access to internationally renowned ponies and horses, students benefit from first-hand experience with the types of equines and care that it takes to be at the top of the sport horse disciplines.
